How to create a simple batch script to rename all files in a folder This command example renames all “.txt” files in the target folder leaving the first three letters (which works as a unique identifier to avoid duplication) and appends “-Test1” to the name: rename *.txt ?-Test1.* The “?” is also a wildcard, but it represents a character of the original file name. In the command, the wildcard ”*” tells the rename command to rename everything with a “.txt” extension.
